What does the course cover?
Bites and stings
Bone, joint and muscle injuries
Burns and scalds
Child and baby resuscitation (CPR)
Communication and casualty care
Heat and cold extremes
Low blood sugar
Managing an emergency
Minor and severe bleeding
Poisons and what to do if someone has been poisoned
Role of the first aider (including knowledge of health and safety regulations)
This course usually runs for 09:30 - 16:30, it is recommended that learners arrive at least 15 minutes before the session to sign in, make a drink and get settled before the training starts.
This course is assessed by the tutor throughout the course with a number of practical assessments taking place over the 2 days and a multiple choice assessment paper at the end of the course to confirm understanding of the content of the course.
Successful learners will receive a Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) Qualification which is valid for 3 years.
100% of the course must be attended to gain this qualification.
